Helen V. Eskra 89, life time area resident, of Phoenix Avenue in Chester passed away on Tuesday April 12, 2011 in the presence of her loving family.
She was born in Newell on August 21, 1921 and was a daughter of the late Carmen J. and Eleanorea S. Pranno Laneve.
Helen was a homemaker, raising and caring for loving family. She is survived by her husband at home; Lewis Eskra, her daughter Frances (Tony) Vinci of West Lake, OH; her two sons, George (Diane) Eskra of Cincinnati, and Gregory (Diann) Eskra of Leetonia; her grandchildren, Karen Zengel, Sarah McKay, Tora, Dana, and Tony Vinci and Austin and Haley Eskra; her great grandchildren, Emilie, Abraham, & Nora Zengel, and Samuel and Jacob McKay. In addition she leaves one brother, Arthur Laneve of Edenton, NC; and three sisters, Mary Hart of Berea, OH; Rose Marie Orlando of Industry, and Florence Meredith of Hookstown. Many nieces and nephews survive as well.
Helen was very passionate about and dedicated to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was a past member of the parish council and the Sacred Heart Ladies Guild. She graduated from the former Wells High School in Newell and was a member of the Chester Arts Club, Chester Junior Women’s Club, American Legion Post 121 Auxiliary, Friends of the Lynn Memorial Library, and a former Girl Scout leader.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Anthony and Richard Laneve, and five sisters, Louise Laneve, Theresa Golletti, Ernesta Moore, Josephine Ulizio, and Virginia Misorski.
A Mass of Christian Burial was presided over by Rev. Father Eric Antwi on April 16 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Entombment followed at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell.
Memorial contributions may be made in Helen’s name to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chester.
