James M. Smith

James M. Smith, one of the best known residents of this city, died from parplysis<sic>, at his home on St. George street, east end, at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning.

Mr. Smith had been ill about three weeks, and two weeks ago he was stricken with a paralytic stroke. There survives a wife, two daughters and one son – the widow of the late A. R. Mackall, Mrs. Alberta Alexander, of Reynoldsville, Pa., and Harry of Newport News, Va.

Mr. Smith, until recently, conducted a bakery on Fourth street and was one of the oldest citizens here.

The funeral will take place from the late home at 2 p.m. Thursday; interment at Riverview.
