Mrs. Katie Patrick

Mrs. Katie Patrick, born in Slavery more than 100 years ago, died Saturday at 10:15 a.m. in the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Arlene Smith, 310 Beaver Ave., Midland, following a two-week illness.
Mrs. Patrick was born in 1849 in Cadiz, Ky., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Preston Wilson. Blind for the past 18 years, she lived in Cadiz until 1931, when she went to Midland to live with her granddaughter. She was a member of the Baptist Church at Paducah, Ky.
She leaves two other grandchildren.
The body was brought to the Kelly Funeral Home where friends may call tonight. Rites will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in St. Paul’s A. M. E. Church, Midland, by Rev. E. J. Sheffield. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Industry township.
