Charles Edgar Van Camp, 81 of New Cumberland, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Weirton Medical Center.
He was born October 22, 1929 in New Martinsville, a son of the late Samuel and Alma Jane (Forrester) Van Camp. He is also preceded in death by three brothers Edwin, Alfred Leroy and Robert Lee Van Camp.
Charles retired in 1984 from National Steel Blooming Mill with 33 years of service and was a member of the 25 year Club.
He was a member of the Colliers Way Church of Chris, Weirton American Legion, a Lifetime member of the Weirton VFW and was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife Shirley Ann (Mercer) Van Camp at home, two sons, Charles Jay Van Camp and Kevin Lee Van Camp both at New Cumberland; two sisters, Lorena Stewart of Sistersville and Melissa Evalyn Riggs of New Philadelphia; two brothers, Joseph W. Van Camp of Paden City and Shannon Ray Van Camp of Middlebourne; and one grandchild, Chase Atlee Van Camp.
Services were held Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Turley Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Derby officiating. Military graveside services followed at the New Cumberland Cemetery.
