William Andrew Waggoner, Jr., formerly of New Cumberland, passed away at the home of his daughter in Harpers Ferry on Friday, February 11, 2011.
He was born March 31, 1922 in Gilmer County, West Virginia to the late William A. Waggoner and Oleva Conner Waggoner. Andrew was also preceded in death by his beloved wife Leah Willis Waggoner and his sister, Marjory Trader.
He is survived by his four children: Rebecca Sagle (Jeffrey) of Doswell, VA; William F. Waggoner (Linda Ann) of Las Vegas, NV; Robert Waggoner (Joanna) of Reston, VA; and Sherri Ott (John) of Charles Town. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Alyson Sagle, John Sagle (Emily), Tesha Grangaard (Peter), Luke Waggoner, Grant Waggoner, Clark Waggoner, Leah Ott, Shelby Ott, Matthew Waggoner, Katie Waggoner, and William Waggoner.
Andrew was born, raised, worked and lived his entire life in West Virginia. He loved all things about West Virginia; camping with his family; hunting with his friends, 4-H, the Mountaineers, his church, and just sitting on the porch visiting with friends and family.
Andrew was a 50+ year member of the New Cumberland Christian Church, the Hancock County 4-H All Stars, and was a lifetime member of the West Virginia 4-H All Stars. He retired from Weirton Steel and was a member of the 25 Year Club.
Services will be held Friday, February 18, at 9:30 a.m. at New Cumberland Christian Church. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Masonic Cemetery in West Union, WV.
