NEWELL – Katheryn E. Lucas, 75 of Grant Street, died at 3:35 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at home following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Lucas was born in Burning Springs, W.Va., March 15, 1926, a daughter of the late Albert N. and A. Mabel Louchin.
She spent most of her life in the area and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newell, where she was involved in the Alpha and Omega Society and the United Methodist Church Women, serving as treasurer at one time.
Mrs. Lucas is survived by her loving husband, Raymond R. Lucas, whom she married June 23, 1946; a son, Ray Lucas and his wife Patti of Newell; two daughters, Karen Poole and her husband, Bill of Midlothian, Va., and Carole Baker and her husband Steve of Chester.
Other survivors include six grandchildren, Brian Lucas of East Liverpool, Mark Lucas of Newell, James and Jay Shenton of Chester, Darla Lucas of East Liverpool an dStevie Rae Baker of Chester, one step-grandchild, Dustin Baker of Chester, and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lucas was preceded in death by five brothers and three ssters.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug.6, 2001, at the Dawson Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Ross of the church officiating. Burial will be in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens
Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 2 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
The family requests contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, Grant Street, Newell, WV.
