SMITH CHARLES F. ‘CHARLIE’, 89, of Ann’s Country Retreat in Wellsburg, WV, formerly of Follansbee, WV, died Tuesday, November 12, 2001, in Weirton Medical Center. He was born October 15, 1912, in Willock, PA, a son of the late William and Mary Soeter Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eva Morgan Smith in 1994, who was owner and operator of the former St. Luke/s Health Care Center in Follansbee; a brother, Roy W. Smith; and a sister, Ella Mae Clark. He was a retired store manager at the Foodland Supermarket in Wheeling; an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of the Olde St. John Episcopal Church in Colliers, WV. Charlie was an active member of the Wellsburg Loyal Order of Moose No. 164. He was past Governor and Secretary, and served as Club Manager for several years. His highest honor was receiving the Pilgram Degree of Merit, which is the highest honor in the Moose Organization. He was also a member of the Emery Watkins American Legion in Follansbee, WV; a past Quarter Master and member of the V.F.W.. Surviving are several nieces and nephews; and also several great-nieces and great-nephews. Arrangements being made by James Funearl Home, Main Street, Follansbee,WV. Entombment will follow in the Highland Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Follansbee, WV.
