Dodd, Esther Carle Wells, 89, of Beech Bottom, WV, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Valley Haven Geriatric Center, Beech Bottom, WV. She was born February 17, 1912, in West Liberty, WV, a daughter of the late Carla Walker and Berlin Underwood Wells. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Edgar “Ed” Dodd on July 15, 1999; two brothers, Henry and Emerson Wells; two sisters, Virginia Wells and Elvina Bucey. She was a graduate of the 1930 Class of Wellsburg High School. She was also a graduate of the Riggts Memar System of Beauth Culture of Wheeling; class of 1931. Ester was a beautician for 54 years. She was a member of the Beech Bottom Community Christian Church and a Sunday School teacher for 50 years having taught the Beginner’s Class. She was also a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Surviving are two sons, E. Keith Dodd and his wife, Rose of Berwyn, PA and Lynn Wells Dodd and his wife, Sue of Wellsburg, WV; three grandchildren, Alan, Nathan and Carolyn Dodd. Arrangements made by Chambers Funeral Home, Main Street, Wellsburg, WV. Interment will follow in Brooke Cemetery, Wellsburgh, WV.
