William H. Barnes, 75, of 512 St. Clair Ave., a former steelworker, died Wednesday at 3:25 p.m. at City Hospital after an illness of two years.
Mr. Barnes was born in Tyler County, W.Va., Aug. 28, 1891, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Solomon H. Barnes. He had resided here since 1929. He worked for the Crucible Steel Co. for 26 1/2 years before retirement. He was a member of Steelworkers Local 1212.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Alice Stefl Barnes at home: four daughters, Mrs. Mabel G. Barnhart, Mrs. Virginia M. Smith, and Mrs. Margaret Croskey, all of Wellsville, and Mrs. Ida Rickey of Florida, a son, Harry Barnes of Wellsville: two sisters, Miss Estella Barnes of Wintersville and Mrs. Maude Zetty of Wellsburg, W.Va.: two brothers, Mrs. Everett Barnes of Wellsburg and Brady Barnes of Steubenville: five step children, 31 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home by the Rev. Allen Conway of the First Methodist Church. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home tonight and Friday.
