East Springfield, Ohio – Dola Elizabeth Modransky, age 88, of East Springfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home on Jan. 14, 2006, after a lengthy battle with illness.
She was a homemaker; a farmer; a loving mother and grandmother. Together with her late husband, Myroslow (Bill) Modransky, they worked hard on their farm in East Springfield their entire lives. Dola was a stong, independent woman with a wonderful smile and a quirky sense of humor.
She was born on Dec. 23, 1917, in Weirton, W.Va., a daughter of the late John P. “Cap” Wylie and Mary Elizabeth (Needham) Wylie. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank A. and John W. Wylie; four sisters, Esther Crago, Helen B. Wylie, Catharine A. Stone and her twin Lola A. Linscott.
Dola is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca E. (Angelo) Corso and Polly D. Modransky, both of East Springfield, Ohio; one granddaughter, Caitlyn E Corso of Columbus, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Everhart-Bove Funeral Home, 110 West Main St., Richmond, on Monday from 6-9 p.m., where services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Reverend James Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in East Springfield Cemetery.
