Deerfield Beach, Fla. – John D. Ludwig, 89, formerly of Columbiana, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, in Florida.
He was born in Ripley, W.Va., June 2, 1912, a son of the late Charles Franklin and Sara Frances Spears Ludwig.
He had been employed at the former Crucible Steel Co. in Midland.
He is survived by his wife, Mariam Ludwig; eight daughters, Elma Henshaw and Linda Fletcher of Lisbon, Ruth Stone of Rossford, Ohio, Carolyn Delgado of Streetsboro, Ohio, Nancy Barth of Woodville, Ohio, Mary Mercer of East Palestine, Betty Evanchec of Linesville, Pa., and Rita Lubbers of Lighthouse Point, Fla.; four sons, James Ludwig of Mathis, Texas, Virgil Ludwig of Brecksville, Ohio, Jack Ludwig of Newton Falls, Ohio and George Ludwig of Columbiana; a sister, Pauline Small of Parkersburg, W.Va.; 42 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Carl Ludwig.
Local Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Church of God, 464 Northeast Ave., Tallmadge, Ohio.
The Kraeer-Becker Funeral Home, Deerfield Beach, is in charge of arrangements.
