EAST LIVERPOOL – Services will be held Friday for Herman “Hebe” Bishop, 83, who died at 5:08 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at City Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born in East Liverpool Aug. 6, 1917, a son of the late Lyle and Tillie Beers Bishop.
A lifetime area resident, he was employed at the former Lowers Coal Co., retiring in 1972 after 20 years of service. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II. He attended the Virginia Avenue Church of Christ in Chester.
His wife, Jacqueline Sachs Bishop, died Aug. 20, 1989. He was also preceded in death by two sons, William “Bill” Bishop and Richard “Dick” Bishop; a sister, Margaret Elizabeth Myers and a great-grandson, Scott Dotson.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ed (Margaret) Mitchell of Elkhart, Ind., Mrs. Harry (Vada) Bishop of East Liverpool, Mrs. Robert (Geraldine) Beers of East Palestine and Betty Weaver of Ambridge, Pa.; a son, Gerald Bishop of East Liverpool; a dear friend, Geraldine Barrett of East Liverpool; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Evangelist Will Montgomery of St. Clair Ave Church of Christ will conduct the services at 10:30 a.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home. The Tri-State Veterans Burial Group will accord full military honors graveside at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
