Ruth E. Cater, 88

Columbiana – Ruth E. Cater, 88, formerly of Grant Street, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at St. Mary's Alzheimer Center.

She was born Sept. 1, 1916, in East Liverpool, daughter of the late William and Mame Bucher Shepherd.

She was a retired teacher for Hancock County schools and a member of Newell First Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by two nephews, Lawrence Shepherd and wife Jo Ann and Timothy Dent; two great-nieces, Amy Lyn Oatman and Heidi Jo Pavone; one great-nephew, Andrew Dent; and two great-great nieces, Mia Jo and Nic Pavone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry B. Cater and sister, Mary L. Shepherd.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Arner Funeral Chapel.

Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel.

Arthur Wayne Stewart, 55, of Shippingport, Pa., passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, in The Medical Center, Beaver, after a two month battle with cancer. He is at home with his Lord, Jesus.

He was born Sept. 25, 1952, in Rochester, Pa., and was the son of Martha Stewart Stroud and the late Gene Stewart. Art was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran having served in Vietnam and Desert Storm, and was employed as a truck driver for 13 years after his military retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting John Deere memorabilia.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 31 years, Wanda Gail Ott Stewart; two brothers and their families, Leonard James Stewart and wife Lana, Huntsville, Ala., and Thomas Gene Stewart and wife Rona, Imperial, Pa.; five nephews, two nieces, one great-nephew, and his faithful companion, Petey Paws.

Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the TODD FUNERAL HOME, 340 Third St., Beaver, and from 1:30 until service time at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Beaver Assembly of God, 500 Dutch Ridge Road, Brighton Township. Rev. Timothy Michaux will officiate.

Private interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to the Beaver Assembly of God Building Fund.
