Services will be held Friday afternoon for Mrs. Julia A. Brooks, 85, of Christian Place who was pronounced dead on arrival Tuesday at 1 p.m. at City Hospital after becoming ill at home. She had been ailing a year.
Mrs. Brooks was born Dec. 1, 1883, in Meigs County, a daughter of the late Alfred E. Petty and Jane Boring Petty. She had resided in this area most of her life.
She retired 20 years ago from the Homer Laughlin China Company.
Her husband, Major E. Brooks, died in 1921.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Albert (Evelyn) Palmer, with whom she resided, Mrs. Albert (Esther) Armstrong of Chester and Mrs. Howard (Kathleen) Fisher of East Liverpool: three sons, Dale C. Brooks of East Liverpool and Dana W. Brooks and Major W. Brooks of Glenmoor; two sister, Mrs. Bernice Barnhart of East Liverpool and Miss Chressie Petty of Athens; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keith Mann of the First Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Calcutta United Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral Thursday afternoon and night.
