NEW CUMBERLAND – Harry O. Carson, 54, farmer and retired oil and gas driller, died at his home in Carson Oil fields near here, Wednesday night following a heart attack. He had been ill for several months.
Mr. Carson was born in Hancock county and spent his life in this section. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Emma Wilson Carson, and five children, Ethelberta, Iris, James, Robert and John, all at home; also one brother Frank of the Carson Oil field and one sister, Mrs. Harland Ramsey of Hookstown.
Funeral services will be held in the home Saturday afternoon, in charge of Rev. Samuel Spencer, pastor of the Point Pleasant Methodist Protestant church. Burial will be made in Mill Creek Cemetery.

Funeral Services Wednesday for Former Election School Board Member
Clemence A. Ferguson, 70, grocer here for 45 years, and a former member of the board of education, died today at 5:40 a.m. at his home, 239 West Fourth street, after a brief illness. He had been in ill health for two years.
Mr. Ferguson was born at Rinard’s Mills, Monroe county, O., and taught school at Brownsville and other towns when a youth. He came here in 1890 and formed a grocery store partnership with George P. Schmidt in the Porter building in South Broadway.
In Business in Fifth Street
This partnership was dissolved later and Mr. Schmidt moved to East Sixth street, while Mr. Ferguson remained in the old location. He later purchased the Frank E. Oyster store in East Third street and Broadway, conducting business there until three years ago, when he moved to 238 West Fifth Street.
Mr. Ferguson, a Democrat in politics, formerly served on the Columbiana county board of elections and was a member of the old country tax equalization board, serving with J. S. Hilbert and the late Thomas H. Ar54buckle. He served two terms on the board of education.
Mr. Ferguson has been active in civic enterprises and was a trustee of the First United Presbyterian church for 38 years.
Leaves Widow and Daughter
Besides his daughter, Mrs. Grace Hart Ferguson, he leaves one daughter, Mrs. Della P. Pollock of Rosemeade, Calif.
Funeral services will be held in the home Wednesday at 8 p.m., in charge of Rev. L. J. Davison, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church. Burial will be made at West Alexander, Pa., Thursday.

Miss Stevens died suddenly Sunday at the home of her nephew, Charles Stevens, with whom she resided. Prior to moving to California she had resided with Mrs. Helen Moore of Chester, her cousin.
She was born May 20, 1888, in East Liverpool, a daughter of Charles H. Stevens and Katherine Henneman Stevens. She was a lifetime resident of this area and a retired employe of the former Edwin M. Knowles China Co. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church here and its Grace Ogilvie Sunday School class. She was an honorary member of the IBPAW. Several cousins, nieces and nephews survive.

She leaves four daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Loy of East Liverpool, Mrs. Edna Roach of Clinton, Pa., Mrs. Zelma Evarts of Dravosburg, Pa., and Mrs. Vina Fisburn of Rockville, Ind., and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the home of Mrs. Loy, 954 ST. George St., by Rev. Albert H. McLain, pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church, and Rev. C. T. Weimer of the Chester church. Burial will be in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery near Hookstown.

Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Joann Millington Baldauf, whom he married on January 12, 1957; a brother, Ralph Hughes of Columbus, OH; three nieces, Kathleen Hughes of Glen Dale, WV, Sharon Barker of Morgantown, WV and Cynthia Sims of Pittsburgh, PA; and a nephew, Gary Cline of Burgettstown, PA. Snively and Freda Ellen Neiswanger Snively. She was a member of the Trinity Gospel Fellowship Church, Flushing, Oh. She was born April 19, 1911, in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late Patsy and Elizabeth Shober Petrella. IN addition th her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tony R. Hedmond on July 19, 1975; six brothers; and five sisters. She was a homemaker and a member of ST. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Weirton. She was a member pf the St. Joseph the Worker Choir for 40 years; and was also a member of the Christian Mothers. Surviving are a brother, Lawrence Petrella and his wife, Lorraine of Weirton; several nieces and nephews; and his caregivers, James and Josephine Paul of Weirton.
