Mrs. Samuel Carson
LISBON - Mrs. Christine Carson, 68, of Caldwell Ave.,
died today at 2am at Salem City Hospital, where she
had been a patient since March 20.
She was born April 8, 1891 in Meigs County,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Anderson.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel carson at
home, a son, Clarence Allen Carson of Ravenna, three
sisters, Mrs. Iva Clark of Ravenna, Mrs. Nettie
Williams of Leon, W. Va. and Mrs. Kate Nontret of
Sandyville, W. Va., a brother Owen Anderson of Racine
and four grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 1:30pm at the Eells
- Leggett Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Calcutta
United Presbyterian Cemetery.

Mrs. Lillian B. Swearingen of Georgetown R. D. 1,
widow of J. P. Swearingen, died Friday at 8:30 pm at
City Hospital after a brief illness. She was 89.
She was born January 15, 1870 in Greene Twp, Beaver
County, and was a member of the Hookstown Presbyterian
Church.
She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Mary Boyd of New
Brighton, Mrs. Joetta Dockter of Beaver Falls and Mrs.
Nina Moore of Georgtown, RD1 and five sons, Charles
Swearingen of Oakland, Calif., James Swearingen of
Beaver, Fred Swearingen of Brownsville, George
Swearingen at home and Joseph Swearingen of East
Liverpool, and 14 grandchildren and 21
great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Monday at 2:30pm at the Welch
Funeral Home at Hookstown by the Rev. Ellsworth
Crispens of the Newell Methodist Chruch. Burial will
be in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Bertha Wilson, wife of Rev. A. S. Wilson of
Hanoverton Presbyterian Church, died Friday at 6pm at
Salem City Hospital, following a long illness, she was
74.
She was born at Oakdale, Pa April 19, 1885 and was
a member of the Hanoverton Church.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Dean Wilson of
Macon, Ill. a sister, Mrs. Margaret Hiles of Fort
Lauderdale, Fla. two brothers, Homer Moore and Wesley

Mrs. Anna Strauss, a resident of this city for 45
years, died Saturday night at her home, 637 Young's
Alley.
She was born at Bridgeport.
Mrs. Strauss is survived by two sons, Charles
Strauss and William Strauss both of East Liverpool,
two brothers Arch Nicholson of East Liverpool and John
Nicholson of Wellsville, a half-brother J. T. Teague

INJURIES TAKE MINE EMPLOYEE STRUCK BY CAR
Salineville Resident Hurt While On Foot In Carroll
County
A 61 year old Salineville area Coal mine employee
died Sunday afternoon at City Hospital from injuries
suffered when struck by a car in Carroll County west
of Salineville Saturday night.
Frank Madison of Salineville RD2 was hit by a car
driven by Ronald Lee Brammer 18, of Hammondsville RD1
on Route 39 about a mile west of the Columbiana County
line Saturday night at 8pm.
The Carroll County Sheriff's office said Mr.
Madison wlaking west apparently stepped in front of
Brammer's west bound car, and brammer unsuccessfully
tried to avoid hitting him.
Mr. Madison suffered a compound fracture of the
right leg, multiple abrasions of the hands, a
laceration of the left hip, possible fracture of the
nose and an ankle injury. He died yesterday at 2pm.
The death was Carroll County's third Traffice
Fatality this year.
A loader at the John M. Hirst Coal Co. of
Salineville, Mr. Madison hadresided most of his life
in the area. He was born December 14, 1897 at Lisbon,
a son of Charles Madison, now of Alliance and the late
Mrs. Mary Allison.
Besides His father, he leaves four daughters, Mrs.
Marcele Moore and Mrs. Lucille Sunderman both of
Salem, Mrs. Eileen Leishman of Salineville and Miss
Amy Madison of Lisbon, seven sons, Paul Madison of
Canton, Franklin Madsion Jr. of Salineville, Cyril
Madison of North Lake, Ill, William Madison of
Youngstown and Oscar Madison, James Madison and John
Madison all with the Navy, two sisters, Mrs. Ethel
Grossenbacher of Alliance and Nellie Mitchson of
Salineville, a brother Orville madison of Salineville
and 14 grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2pm at the Kerr
Funeral Home in Salineville by the Rev. James McCollam
of the Salineville United Presbyterian Church. Burial
will be in the Mechanicstown Cemetery.

Miss Gardner was a life long member of the First
Methodist Church, the Bible literary Club and Women's
Christian Service League.
In additon to her sister, she is survived by a
brother E. E. Gardner of Euclid.

Home Tuesday at 2 pm by the Rev. Clark W. Cooper,
pastor of the Methodist Church, and Rev. Arthur E.

Mrs. Allison was born in Hancock County and spent her
lifetime there. She was a member of the Chester
Methodist Church.
She leaves a daughter Mrs. Elva Gregory of
Wellsville, two sons, Frank W. Allison of Chester and
Edwin W. Allison of Wintersville, a sister Mrs.
Lurther Allison of Chesterand five grandchildren and
four great-grandchildren. Her Husband died 10 years
ago.
