Born May 16, 1916 in Shippingport, she was a daughter of the late Walter Lee and Velma Ruth Knowles Rogers. Agnes was a 1934 graduate of Lincoln High School, Midland. She was the owner/operator of a grocery store, gas station, and restaurant in Shippingport. Being a gourmet cook, she loved cooking and baking each day for personnel employed during the construction of the world’s first commercial nuclear power plant in the 1950’s.

In the community, she was actively involved in the Fire Department Auxiliary, Arts and Crafters Association and the Quilters Association. She was also an avid walker, gardener, seamstress, and a caregiver to many.
She, along with her husband, bought a home in Fla. in 1974 and enjoyed spending winters there. In 1988, they sold their Shippingport home and moved to their Florida home on a more permanent basis. Their love of family brought them back to Pennsylvania, where they spent each summer with their beloved daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Dwayne Adams.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. today in the Welch’s Funeral Home, Hookstown. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Green Valley Methodist Church in Shippingport with her beloved grandson, Rev. Brad Adams officiating. Interment will be at Mill Creek Hill Cemetery.
