Clara B. Bobalik, 84, of Chester and formerly of Wellsville, passed away on Saturday March 19, 2011 at Forbes Hospice in Pittsburgh following brief illness.
A daughter of the late Frank and Martha Derda Juszczak, Clara was born on December I, 1926 in Congo near Newell.
Clara worked 40 years as a registered nurse, retiring from the obstetrics department at East Liverpool City Hospital where her primary duties were labor and delivery. After retirement she worked briefly as an RN in the home health field.
A member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chester, she was a member and past president of the Sacred Heart Ladies Guild.
She received her nursing degree from the East Liverpool City Hospital School of Nursing.
Her husband, John “Fritz” Bobalik preceded her in death along with three brothers, Joseph, Walter and Cas Juszczak.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Sue Bobalik of Baden, PA; two sons, John (Beth) Bobalik of East Liverpool and Steve (Deb Zorn) Bobalik of Austintown; her sister-in-law whom she actually referred to as her sister, Fran Juszaczak of Chester; four grandchildren, David, Andrew, Meredith, and Ali Bobalik, and many nieces and nephews.
Rev. Father Eric Antwi presided for a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 22m 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred heart Catholic Church. Interment at Spring Hill Cemetery in Wellsville.

Benjamin “Ben” Franklin Booth, 89, of Newell, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011.
Born September 9, 1921 in East Liverpool, he was a son of the late Ben and Ella Pritchard Booth.
Ben was a World War II, Army veteran. He retired from Globe Brick. Ben was a Charter Member of the Glendale Church of the Nazarene, where he served as song leader, choir director, Sunday School teacher and board member. He was past president of the Upper Hancock County Community Hymn Sing. Ben and his wife, Bea, loved to sing hymns and share devotions at local nursing homes.
Ben was well known and loved by many people in the Tri-State Area as Santa Claus.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice “Bea” Booth, who he married January 24, 1942; four brothers, Bob, Bill, Willard and Harold Booth and a sister, Dorothy Kirby.
Surviving are his daughter, Jane (Cliff) Tiller of Newell; a son, Benjamin Charles (Judy) Booth of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Rich and Jade Booth and family, Eric Booth, Shannon Booth, Les and Tonya Taylor, Brent and Kim Appleby and Kevan and Angie Nelson and family; and two great grandchildren, Monica Taylor and Faith Appleby.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 21, 2011, at the Glendale Church of the Nazarene in Newell. Pastor Scott Henry officiated. The Tri-State Veterans Burial Group and the WV National Honor Guard conducted military services. Private burial followed in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens, Newell.

Pat Martin Mills Blackwell, 69, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011.
Born September 27, 1941 in St. Marys, she was a daughter of the late Milford and Alice (Cadegan) Martin.
She was a member of the New Manchester and New Cumberland P.T.A., held various offices in Rhododendron Rebecca Lodge No. 11 and was District Deputy President for two years. She served on the Bicentennial Committee, along with her husband, Jim and mother-in-law, Ruth Blackwell and formed the New Cumberland Fireworks Committee and put on the first fireworks show in New Cumberland.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, John Mills, tow daughters, Shelly Herron and Russella Mills and her youngest son, Jeremy Blackwell.
Surviving are her sons, John (Robin) Mills of Virginia, Munch (Dineen) Mills of New Cumberland and Jason Blackwell and companion, Paula Harrison of Hopewell, PA; ex-husband, Jim Blackwell of New Cumberland; eleven grandchildren, Gave, Brittany, Michelle, Nicco, Zachary, Tori, Madison, Haley, Noah, Austin and Tyler; two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Lillianna; five brothers, Russell, Danny, and Ron Martin all of New Cumberland, Manford Martin of Florida, and Gial Martin of Weirton and three sisters, Eileen Tingler of Tennessee, Idella Grimes of New Cumberland and Allison Martin of Moundsville.

She was born February 8, 1935 in Shirley, WV, a daughter of the late Elbert and Dolly Price Orr.
She was a member of the Virginia Avenue Church of Christ.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Clutter, whom she married June 30, 1951; a grandson, Randall Waite Jr; two sisters, Freda Wade and Arlene Crim and a brother, Denzil Orr.
She is survived by five daughters, Debbie (Randy) Waite, Jackie (Greg) Helmick and Brenda (Mike) Harris all of New Cumberland, Paula Clutter of Chester and Rebecca (Mike) Lisotto of Oakdale, PA; a son, Gerald (Tracy) Clutter of Chester; nine grandchildren, Brian, Lori, Amy, Jamie, Amanda, Kasey, Nikki, Madison and Alex; nine great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Bridget, Riley, Emma, Avery, Katie, Zeke, Victoria and Abigail; three sisters, Patsy McClelland of Follansbee and Sue Hamill and Glenda Bennett both of Texas; and two brothers, Thomas Orr of Burgettstown and Jerry Orr of New Manchester.

Carroll Zane (CZ) Mills of Desthrelan, Louisiana, passed away Sat., March 12th in Amedisyus Hospice Care in Metairie, LA, following a lengthy bout with cancer.
Carroll was born at home in New Cumberland on June 18, 1938 to Charles and Jennie (Boso) Mills.
Upon graduation from Wells High School in Newell, he entered the military and served with the U. S. Army in Germany. After his term of service, he returned to the area and worked as a long haul truck driver and was owner and operator of a truck towing service.
He moved to Louisiana in the early 1980s.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, two brother, Nile Wayne and Charles Blaine, and a nephew, Corey Anthony Keller.
He is survived by sisters, Jean (Bob) Lockhart and Janet (Rick) Keller, several nieces and nephews and a special some one who became known to him late in life.
Carroll designated his body for research. There are no services planned.

Daniel C. Baker, Jr., P.E., 82 of Beaver, formerly of Brighton Township, died February 12, 2011, in New Brighton, he was a son of the late Daniel C. Sr. and Henrietta (Hoover) Baker. A Professional Engineer and Professional Land Surveyor, he was chairman of the family –owned firm of Daniel C. Baker Associates, Inc., having served numerous municipalities and industrial companies as a civil engineer and surveyor.
A member of the First Presbyterian Church, Beaver, he was an ordained elder of the Presbyterian church, was a member of the Beaver Area Heritage Foundation, and had served as president of the Blockhouse Baker Association, an association of descendants of the earliest settlers in Beaver County.
In 1990, he was named Engineer of the Year by the Beaver County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers. In 1993, he received the Founders Award from the Southwest Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors, in 2003, he received a proclamation from the Brighton Township Board of Supervisors for his professional contributions over 43 years, and in 2004 he received the Lifetime Membership Award from the Pennsylvania Association of Sewage Enforcement Officers. In 2006, a scholarship in his name was awarded to incoming freshmen engineering students in Penn State University’s Beaver Campus and he received a commendation for his achievements from the State Senate of Pennsylvania.
He loved farming and horses, having organized and participated in numerous horse shows and clubs. He enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing, and was an avid Penn State fan, having attended many football games with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Martha McMullen Baker, whom he married on October 22, 1948; a son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Kathie Baker, South Beaver Township; two daughters, and sons-in-law, Christine and Dana Varney, Beaver, and Connie and Chad Weimer, Harleysville, PA; six cherished grandchildren, Lisa Baker King and Kevin King, Idaho Falls, ID, Dalene Varney LaPointe and Christopher LaPointe, South Hamilton, MA, Carla Baker Rebernak and Jeff Rebernak, Sugar City, Id, Clint Baker, Idaho Falls, ID, Clay Varney, Washington, D.C, and Reed Weimer, Harleysville, PA; two great-grandsons, Alden LaPointe, South Hamilton, MA and Garrett Rebernak, Sugar City, ID; two brothers, Robert Baker and Edwin Baker, and a sister, Maryetta Shiring.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were a grandson, Jacob Baker Weimer, and a great grandson, Baker Christian LaPointe.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Beaver, by his pastor, Reverend Jeffrey A. Arnold.
Private entombment will take place at the Sylvania Hills Mausoleum.

She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Turley; her second husband, Frank Ardito; a brother, Earl S. Davis; and a nephew, Earl S. Davis. Mars Ardito was a primary teacher in Brooke County Schools for 30 years. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and Brooke County Retired Teachers Association, all of Follansbee. KEMPER, JAMES HARVEY, 82, of Marianna St., Wellsburg, WV, died Monday, August 27, 2001, in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of the late Frank Joseph and Minnie Bilby Kemper. A member of the Wellsburg Presbyterian Church and an Army veteran of WWII, he belonged to the Disabled American Veterans, an Air Corp-airplane mechanic, a Brooke County Constable for many years and also the Brooke County AARP. IN addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Christin Kemper; a daughter Carolyn Jean Kemper, six brothers, William, Richard, Frank, Kenneth, Fred and Archie Kemper; two sisters, Gertrude Ellis and Louise Kerns. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Allen “Joyce” Woodstuff of Wellsbutrg; a brother, Paul Kemper of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; two grandsons, Michael Woodstuff and wife, Deborah ,of Wellsburg, and Scott Woodstuff and his wife, Suzanne, of DeFiance, Ohio; three great grandchildren, Michelle Woodstuff of Wellsburg, Andrew and Jonathan of DeFiance; two sister-in-laws, Freda Kemper and Macel Kemper, both of Wellsburg; several nieces and nephews. She was born February 17, 1912, in West Liberty, WV, a daughter of the late Carla Walker and Berlin Underwood Wells. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Edgar “Ed” Dodd on July 15, 1999; two brothers, Henry and Emerson Wells; two sisters, Virginia Wells and Elvina Bucey. She was a graduate of the 1930 Class of Wellsburg High School. She was also a graduate of the Riggts Memar System of Beauth Culture of Wheeling; class of 1931. Ester was a beautician for 54 years. She was a member of the Beech Bottom Community Christian Church and a Sunday School teacher for 50 years having taught the Beginner’s Class. She was also a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Surviving are two sons, E. Keith Dodd and his wife, Rose of Berwyn, PA and Lynn Wells Dodd and his wife, Sue of Wellsburg, WV; three grandchildren, Alan, Nathan and Carolyn Dodd.
