Alberta Marie Abrams, 98
CHESTER – Alberta Marie Abrams, 98, of Louisiana Avenue, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2005, at the Stone Pear Pavilion of the Orchards at Foxcrest.

Born in Georgetown, Pa., Aug. 10, 1909, a daughter of the late Robert Bertman and Pearl Elizabeth Abrams, she was a lifetime area resident.

A retired educator, she taught school in the Chester area more than 50 years.

She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Chester, and the Chester Women’s Club, Sorocis Club, Chester Junior Women’s Club and the Civic Club.

After graduating in the Chester High School Class of 1926, she earned degrees in higher education at Wooster College, Kent State University, Duke University and West Virginia University.

She was a gourmet cook and an experienced world traveler.

Surviving is a sister, Shirley Abrams Smith and her husband Dennis of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Also surviving are 10 nieces ad nephews: Chris Snyder and her husband Larry of Chester; John “Jay” Abrams of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Paul Abrams and his wife Anna of Mission Viejo, Calif.; Kathleen Abrams of Seattle, Wash.; Patricia Kemme and her husband Michael of Champagne, Ill., Michael Smith and his wife Vickey of Hamilton, Ohio; Daniel Smith and his wife Marie of Downingtown, Pa.; Robert Smith and his wife Jane of Harrison, Ohio; Thomas Smith and his wife Barbara of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Matthew Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eunice M. Abrams, who died June 26, 1993, and Leona P. Abrams, who died Feb. 27, 2001; three brothers, Thomas L. Abrams, who died March 18, 1953; John C. Abrams, who died Jan 27, 2004, and Robert B. Abrams, who died Jan. 11, 2005.

Also preceding her wore four nephews.

Services are planned for 11 a.m. Friday at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Katrina Lewis officiating. Friends may call Thursday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present form 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Burial will be in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery in Hookstown, Pa.

Family and friends will gather at the church following the services.
