Dorathy Z. Murray

CHESTER – Dorathy Z. Murray, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007 at the Robert E. Boyce Pavilion of East Liverpool City Hospital.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Jane Fawcett Zimpfer.

Murray retired from Hancock County Schools after 37 years of service, having taught art and home economics in Chester, Newell and New Cumberland Schools. She graduated from East High School in Columbus and Ohio State University.

She was a member of the East Liverpool First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Ester Bible Club, Rebecca Joy Circle and United Methodist Women’s group. Murray also was a member of the Chester Woman’s Civic Club, the East Liverpool B.P.W.A., Chester Arts Club and the Hancock County Retired Teachers Association.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, in 1976, by her husband John G. Murray and an infant daughter, Pamela Murray.

Surviving are a son, John D. Murray and his wife Marlene Fleming, of Chester; a sister Ruth Pflueger of Dunedin, Fla.; and granddaughter Meredith Blackburn of Philadelphia, Pa.

Pastors Jon Truax, of the church, and Dave Maly will officiate services at 120:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 at the Arner Funeral Chapel followed by burial in Riverview Cemetry.

Friends may visit on Tuesday from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m.
