Miss Anna P. Johnston, 98

EAST LIVERPOOL –Miss Anna P. Johnston, 98, died at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at the St. Mary’s Alzheimer Center in Columbiana following a lengthy illness.

She was born in East Liverpool Dec. 9, 1902, a daughter of the late John P. and Margaret Ellen Moore Johnston.

A lifelong area resident, she was a teacher and principal in the East Liverpool School System for nearly 50 years until her retirement in 1972. She graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1921 and was a member of the ELHS Alumni Association and its Leadership Gift Society. She also was a graduate of Ohio University. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Catholic Women’s Study Group at one time. Along with Elizabeth Carter and the late Ruth Kincaid, Miss Johnston helped form the Tri-State Promoters in East Liverpool.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Crumbley; and two brothers, John “Jack” Johnston and Harry Johnston.

Father Charles William Crumbley of St. James Catholic Church in Warren, Ohio, will conduct a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery.

Friends my call at the Dawson Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
