EMIL M. RICE - Obituary

Emil M. Rice, 71

Chester - Emil M. Rice, 71, of Louisiana Avenue died at 3 p. m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 1994, at the Weirton Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Chester Jan. 24, 1923, a son of the late Warren and Rosie Flannigan Rice.

He lived his life here and was a retired employee of the Mackintosh Hemphill Co. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 121 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6450.

His wife, Martha J. Swisher Rice, died Feb. 7, 1990.

He is survived by a son, John Bickerstaff of Chester; two daughters, Mrs. Denzil (Beverly) Walker of New Cumberland and Mrs. Clifford (Judy) Shenton of Port Orange, Fla.; two brothers, John Rice of East Liverpool and Layman Rice of Newell; a sister, Mrs. Lawrence (Josephine) Dudgeon of East Liverpool; 10 grandchilren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Minister James Dawes of the First Christian Church will conduct services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Arner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens.

Friends may call at the chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m. Friday.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Lynn Murray Memorial Library.
