Mrs. Lucie B. Ballantyne

New Cumberland - Services for Mrs. Lucie Brown Ballantyne, 76, of Ridge avenue will be held Monday 2 p. m. in the Fields Funeral home with the Rev. W. H. Flurkey, pastor of the Presbyterian church in charge. Burial will be in the New Cumberland Cemetery.

Mrs. Ballantyne died on Friday morning at the Clinton Memorial hospital in New Wilmington, Ohio. She became ill while visiting her daughter, Mrs. Harold Ubile in New Vienna, Ohio.

She was born on May 23, 1880, the only daughter of Adrian Wilmer Brown and Mary Morrow Brown. She had one brother, the late R. M. Brown, who had been the clerk of Hancock County Circuit Court and publisher of the Hancock County Independent. Attorney Brown died on October 4, 1946 and his work as publisher was undertaken by his son, Scott Brown, who died on January 24, 1956.

Mrs. Ballantyne graduated from New Cumberland High school and West Virginia university. She had taught in Marshall and West Liberty colleges. She was married to Nathaniel Wallace Ballantyne on December 4, 1906. Her husband died May 28, 1949. Mrs. Ballantyne was an active member of the New Cumberland Presbyterian church, the Woman's club and the Steubenville Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a charter member of the Theta chapter of the Chi Omega Sorority of West Virginia University.

Her son, Robert Brown Ballantyne, died on March 4, 1956. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Dailey of Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Ulble and 12 grandchildren. Friends may call at the Fields Funeral home after 7 p. m. today.
