Winifred Hetzler, 76, Retired Teacher

MONACA, Pa. – Services are planned Thursday for Mrs. Winifred G. Hetzler, 76, of 1108 Washington Ave., who died at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 1990, at the Rochester (Pa.) Manor Nursing Home, following a lengthy illness.

She was born Aug. 6, 1913, in West Liberty, W.Va., a daughter of the late D. C Grewell and Anna DeVaughn Grewell.

Mrs. Hetzler was a teacher at the former Grandview School in Hancock County, and retired as a teacher at the Chester Primary School, in 1975. She was educated in Ohio County schools, and graduated from West Liberty State College. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Chester, the Retired Teachers Association, Chester Arts Club, the Beaver Medical Center Auxiliary, the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, the Pennsylvania Historical Camera Society, the Audubon society, the National Geographic Society and the Smithsonian Institute.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. C. W. Hetzler, whom she married July 1, 1945; two brothers, Jack Grewell of Winder, Ga., and Charles Grewell of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Standish (Sarah Lou) Miller of Chester; and several nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Katrina Lewis of the church is to conduct the services at 11 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel. Burial is to be in Prall Cemetery at West Liberty.

Friends may call at the chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Chester Church or the Lynn Murray Memorial Library.
