WELLSVILLE MAN, 91, DIES FOLLOWING FALL
Samuel Smithers, retired Pennsylvania Railroad Co. car repairman, died Friday at 10 p.m. in his home; 920 commerce St., Wellsville, as the result of injuries suffered in a fail.
Mr. Smithers fell while ascending the stairs to his second-floor bedroom. He died within a few minutes. He was 91.
Mr. Smithers, who lived in Wellsville for 58 years, retired about 20 years ago. He was the oldest member of Lee’s African Methodist Episcopal Church.
He leaves his widow, Mrs. Pauline Smithers; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Molbrough of Wellsville; a step-daughter, four grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Rites will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Lee’s Chapel by Rev. C. S. Spearman. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight and Sunday at the late home.
