Sara A. Thomas, 87
EAST LIVERPOOL – Sara A. Thomas, 87, of Globe Street, formerly of Chester, died at 8:08 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 1996, at City Hospital.
She was born in Chester May 1, 1908, a daughter of the late David and Sarah Maylan Thomas.
She lived her life in Chester until a year ago when she moved to East Liverpool. She was employed as a teacher 44 years at Chester High School and Oak Glen High School before retiring in 1973. She graduated from Chester High School in 1921 and from Bethany College in 1929. She attended West Virginia University and earned her master’s degree at Pitt University. She served as secretary and treasurer of Chester City Park and was a member of the First Christian Church.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Thomas; and a sister, Ina Birkhimer.
Minister James Dawes of the church will conduct services at 2p.m. Saturday at the Arner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery.
Friends my call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Friday.
