William W. Harper Jr., 53
CHESTER – William W. Harper Jr., 53, of Virginia Avenue died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 1996, at City Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born in Wheeling May 13, 1943, a son of Mary Embleton Harper and the late W. W. Harper Sr.
He was employed several years as a teacher. He also was a electrician 15 years for theatrical lighting. He graduated from Chester High School and West Liberty State College. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lions Club, Kiwanis Club and the IATSE.
Besides his mother, he is survived by a son, Andrew M. Harper of San Jose, Calif.; a brother, James R. Harper of Chester; a sister, Mrs. Larry (Mary) Gillispie of Sarasota, Fla.; and three nephews and a niece.
Evangelist Frank Higginbotham of Virginia Avenue Church of Chris and the Rev. Sherman G. Davidson of the First United Methodist Church will conduct services at 11 a.m. Friday at the Arner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home form 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Children’s Hospital.
