J. H. THOMAS CLAIMED AT 70

John Henry Thomas, 1617 Chester Ave., Wellsville , a retired employeof the Pennsylvania Railroad Co., died suddenly of a heart attack Thursday at 9 a.m. while at the home of his brother, Walter Thomas, of Lower Salem, near Marietta. He was 70.
He and his daughter, Mrs. Katherine Mouse left Wellsville Wednesday for a visit with his brother.
Mr. Thomas was born Feb. 4, 1892, to the late John M. Thomas and Katharine Zimmerman Thomas on the farm where his brother resides. He lived in Cambridge, before coming to Wellsville, where he resided for 23 years. He was an engine hostler for the railroad before retiring in July of 1957. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of East Liverpool and the Brotherhood of Railway Firemen and Engineers. His wife, Mrs. Laura Wirth Thomas, died in 1960 and a son, Alfred E. Thomas in 1955.
He is also survived by a son, Richard H. Thomas of Los Angeles; two brothers, Walter Thomas and Oscar Thomas, both of Lower Salem, and two grandsons.
Services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the MacLean Funeral Home in Wellsville by the Rev. Charles W. Kampmeyer. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery, Wellsville.
