James A. Wallace
EAST LIVERPOOL - James A. Wallace, 81, died at home with his family by his side on Saturday afternoon, June 6, 2009.
He was born on June 18, 1927 in Smithfield, Ohio, son of the late Robert and Jessie Brock Wallace.
Known by most people in the area as owner and President of the former Panhandle Equipment in Chester, he was self taught and well read in business and finance, lending his talents to the former City Financial and serving on the Board of Directors for Northern Hancock Bank & Trust.
He was a Presbyterian by faith and loved discussing politics.
An avid golfer and bowler, he also was active with the Chester Lions club and Smithfield Masonic Lodge.
Surviving at home is his loving wife, Donna Liston Wallace, whom he married on Aug. 22, 1948; one son, Bix (Nenia) Wallace, of Chester, and their children Michael, Augusto and Joseph; two daughters, Shelley (Bob) Simms, of East Liverpool, and children Kam (Ron), Bobby, Melissa and Seth and Lark Wallace, of Maderira Beach, FL. One sister, Gladys McVay, of St. Petersburg, FL; four great-grandchildren and his cat Versache also survive.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, with Pastor Erica Como officiating, followed by burial in Locust Hill Cemetery.
Friends may visit on Tuesday when the family will be present from noon to 3 and 5-8 p.m.
