Guy Walter “Dub” Easterling, Sr., 55, of New York Blvd., Weirton was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 7, 2003. He passed away at Weirton Medical Center following a sudden illness.
He was born January 10, 1948 in New Cumberland, a son of the late Ralph S. Easterling and Delphia L. Barton Ruley. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Herschel Ruley.
Dub was a retired Army veteran, fighting in Vietnam where he was seriously wounded. He was hospitalized several years due to his extensive injuries. He enlisted in the military in 1966. He was a Christian by faith and a follower of the Black Sheep Harley Davidson for Christ, a family oriented Christ motorcycle ministry, Steel Valley branch. He was also a member of the Weirton VFW Post 2716, Weirton American Legion and the DAV.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen Lengyel Easterling, at home; a son, Guy W. Easterling, Fr. Of Raleigh, NC; a daughter, Mrs. Alex (Felicia) Boord of Minerva, Oh; a stepson, Michael Britton of Steubenville; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Kaulfuss of Wake Forest, NC; three sisters, Patty I Reed of Georgia, Sandra Kay of Aliquippa and Kandy Rice of New Cumberland; three brothers, James Easterling of New Cumberland, Danny Ruley of Californina and Keith Ruley of Wellsville; a stepmother, Erlene Easterling of Texas; his former wife, Doris Murray Easterling of Minerva and nine grandchildren, Laruen and David Boord, Dakota and Benita Easterling, Zach and Sydney McRoy and Emilee, Cody and Michael Britton; he was very close to his nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Turley Funeral Home on Saturday, October 11, 2003 at 11 a.m. with Don Lytle officiating. Military graveside services followed at the New Cumberland Cemetery.
