Leona Irene Cox, 72, of Orchard Street, Weirton passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at the Weirton Medical Center.
She was born September 28, 1930 in Weirton, a daughter of the late Lawrence B. and Goldie V. Rogers Dempster. She was also preceded in death by brother, Buddy Dempster and a sister, Goldie V. Ford.
She was retired from the Steel Works Credit Union in Weirton were she worked as a janitor. She attended the New Cumberland Christian Church.
She is survived by her companion of 32 years, Tom Anderson of Weirton, two daughters, Karen Kaczmarek of New Cumberland and Diane Provanich and husband, Bill of East Liverpool; four sons, Larry Cox and wife, Judy of Fairmont, Kent Cox and wife, Donna and Leonard Cox, all of Chester and Cary Cox and wife, Missy of Avella, PA; two sisters, Arlene Huddleston of Chesapeake, OH and Margie Stevic of Colliers; a brother, John Rogers of Tennessee; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 8, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Turley Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Romine officiating. Interment followed in the New Cumberland Cemetery.
