Rose Amato Sullivan
Died Jan. 20, 2004

WELLSVILLE – Rose Amato Sullivan of Parshall Street died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at her home following a lengthy illness.
Born in Wellsville May 5, 1930, daughter of the late John and Rosalia DeFilippo Amato, she was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
A mother and loving wife, she was a lifelong resident of Wellsville.
Her husband and caregiver, Robert Reark Sullivan, whom she married May 14, 1960, survives at home.
Five daughters, Mrs. Gary (Rosalia) Kijanka of Steubenville, Mrs. Paul (Marguerite) Shilot and Mrs. Jeff (Noreen) Hanselman, both of Wellsville, Mrs. Randy (Maria) Gaskill of East Liverpool, and Mrs. Todd (Giovanna) Sullivan of Wellsville, survive.
A brother, John Amato and his wife Betty of East Liverpool, also survives along with four sisters, marguerite Amato, Nora Amato and Mrs. John (Frances) Pickering, all of Wellsville, and Mrs. Fred (Mary) Smith of Findlay, Ohio.
Eleven grandchildren who were the greatest joys of her life also survive. They are Justin, Jesse and Jared Shilot, Chrysta and Gary Kijanka, Jeffrey and Celeste Hanselman, Bobby and Eric Sullivan, and Blake and Colton Gaskill.
Many nieces and nephews also survive.
A brother, Vincent “Jim” Amato, preceded her in death.
Friends may call today at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Rosary Service is planned for 8 p.m., today at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Bernard N. Gaeta as celebrant will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church. It will be preceded by a service of remembrance at the Dawson Funeral Home at 1 p.m.
Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Wellsville.
Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center for fellowship and refreshment.
