Samuel W. Carpenter
Samuel W. Carpenter 71, of Pittsburgh, died Sunday at 12:45 p.m. at the homeof his daughter, Mrs. Lilllian M. Carter of 947 High st., where he had been visiting ofr five weeks.
He was born in Malden, Mass., son of Samuel and Sarah Carpenter. He was a plumber until ill health forced his retirement.
In addition to his daughter, he leaves his wife, Mrs. Lilla Mae Carpenter; two other daughters, Mrs. Gordon Thomas of Boston, and Mrs. A. W. Shafer of Pittsburgh, a son, Samuel Carpenter Jr., also of Pittsburgh, and eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Rites will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carter, by Rev. William E. Speaker, pastor of the Pennsylvania Avenue Methodist church. Interment will be at Spring Hill cemetery.
