EAST PALESTINE – Thomas J. Murphy, 68, of 204 Park Ave. died Monday at 9 p.m. in the East Liverpool Extended Care Center where he had been a patient on day following a year’s illness.

He was born Jan. 27, 1911, in New Waterford, a son of Joseph T. Murphy and Mae Randolph Murphy.

Mr. Murphy was a kiln placer with Kingwood Ceramics Inc. of East Palestine for 37 years, retiring six years ago. He attended the Faith Temple Assembly of God.

Survivors include his widow, Flora Taylor Hulton Murphy, to whom he was married Sept. 27, 1968; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Olivia Beller of Lousiville, Ky.; two brothers, Lloyd Murphy of Midland and Cecil (Pat) Murphy of East Liverpool; a sister, Mrs. Charles Piper of Rimersburg, Pa., and six nieces.

Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Van Dyke-Swaney Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenneth Miller officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday night from 7 to 9.
