Helen M. Capehat, 78, of W. Fourth St. died Monday at 11:05 p.m. in City Hospital where she had been a patient one week.

She was born in East Liverpool, July 29, 1904, a daughter of the late Lewis T. Capehart and Victoria Graham Capehart.

A lifetime resident, she retired in 1969 with more than 40 years of service as a teacher in the East Liverpool School System.

A graduate of East Liverpool High School and Dennison University, she received a master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

She was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association, Columbiana County Retired Teachers Association, Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Alpha Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, the National Federation of Republican Women, the Ohio Federation of Republican Women, the East Liverpool Area Republican Women's Club, American Association of Retired Persons, Washington School Alumni Committee, First United Methodist Church, Esther Bible Club, Crystal Chapter ?? Order of Eastern Star where she was a past matron, and the Ceramic Rebekah Lodge .

She is survived by a nephew, C. Richard Kidder, whom she raised.

Funeral services are to be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. from the Martin Funeral Home with the Rev. C. Orland Ruby officiating.

Burial is to be in Riverview Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon and evening.
