PAUL E. AMOS - Obituary

Paul E. Amos, 71, of Chester, died at 2:05 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, at East Liverpool City Hospital.

Born in Parkersburg, W.Va., July 20, 1933, son of the late William V. and Leona Hartshorn Amos, he had lived most of his life in this area.

After retiring from the former Crucible Steel Co., he worked at Hillcrest Farms and later Conkle Farms.

A member of the Old Timers Baseball Association, he was active and had played in the Chester-Newell Slow-Pitch Softball League. He also held membership in the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Chester.

His wife, N. June Amos, whom he married March 6, 1951, died Feb. 3, 2002. Two brothers, James E. Amos and William "Bill" V. Amos Jr., also preceded him in death.

Two daughters, Mrs. Lee (Nancy) Conkle and Mrs. Timothy (Jane) Dunlevy, and a son, Paul E. Amos II, all of Chester, survive.

There are six grandchildren, Justin Conkle, Lindsay Amos, Kara Amos, Jessica Conkle, Ryan Dunlevy and Rainelle Dunlevy.

Two sisters, Pauline Lantz of Heath, Ohio, and Mrs. Dick (Alta "Red") Somerville of Mineral Wells, W.Va., also survive.

Friends may call today at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m., as well as one hour before the 11 a.m. service to be held Wednesday.

Pastor Tom Schneidmiller will officiate. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery. Following the service, family and friends will gather at the Dawson Family Center.
