Babette Fineman, 82, of Chester, passed away at her home after a prolonged illness on Monday, May 23, 2011.
Born in Latrobe, Pa, May 29, 1928, Babette was a daughter of the late Irving & Marianna Levoy Lowenstein and sister of the late Freddy & Ben Lowenstein.
Babette had a professional career as a high school teacher at Oak Glen High School and as an Associate Professor at Kent State University. She obtained her Bachelors, Masters and Post Graduate degrees.
She was a member of Beth Shalom Congregation, Hadassah, and sisterhood. She also volunteered her time at the American Red Cross,
East Liverpool City Hospital, and was the Masters of Ceremony at many fundraisers. Her hobbies included knitting, needlepoint, bridge, and her beloved Rowdies Group.
Surviving are her husband, Alvin’ her children, Richard and his wife Sharon, Steve, and Janet and her husband Paul Winschel; six grandchildren, Joshua, Marcy, Lacey, Morgan, Samy, and Shoshana; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester followed by burial at B’nai Jacob Cemetery in East Liverpool.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Babette’s name to the Lynn Murray Memorial Library at 601 Railroad St., Chester, WV 26034
