Robert “Dean” Golden, 79, of New Cumberland, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011.
Born May 19, 1932 in Doddridge County, WV, a son of he late Criss and Ethel Hill Golden.
Dean was a Korean War, Army veteran, a 1950 graduate of Wallace High School and retired from Weirton Steel. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men and a past member of the W.Va. National Horseshoe Pitchers Association and the National Archery Association.
He enjoyed gardening and sharing his produce with neighbors.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael; an infant daughter, Sue Ellen; and two brothers, Criss Golden Jr., and James Allen Golden.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Murray Golden of New Cumberland; two sons, David Lee (Cindy) Golden of Cuyahoga Falls, OH and Robert Lynn Golden of Harrisburg, NC; three grandsons, Criss Robert (Lindsey) Golden of Tennessee, Craig Michael Golden and Corey Ryan Golden both of Harrisburg, North Carolina; two sisters, Mary Margaret (Robert) Wolfe and Florence Ann (Larry) Fleming all of Clarksburg.
Funeral services were held at the Nixon Funeral Home in New Cumberland at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2011. Pastor Bob Staub officiated.
Burial followed at New Cumberland Cemetery.
