Lawrence “Fereyle” Moore, 82, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011.
He was born August 29, 1928 and also raised on Rines Ridge, Marshall County.
He was the son of the late Paul and Mamie Moore. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Jean Moore in June 2009 and a daughter, Judy Qualls, April 1994.
He was retired from the Weirton Steel Corporation with 25 years of service where he was a brakeman on the railroad. He also ran the family farm in New Cumberland.
He was an Army veteran in the Korean War serving in Germany. Lawrence was a member of the First Baptist Church of Steubenville where he served on the Board of Deacons.
He was a former member of Moose 688, Oakland Sportsman Club and the Masonic Lodge of Weirton, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite of Wheeling and the American Legion of Hookstown.
Lawrence is survived by daughters, Elaine (ED) Frey of Toledo, Ohio, Louise (Stan) Simich of Weirton, brother, Hiram V. (Dorothy) Moore of Davenport, Florida; grandchildren; Donna Panek and Jackie (Shawn) Ronan of Michigan, Brian Barkley and Shannen (Dr. Alvin) Ginier of New Cumberland, Eddie (Jen) Frey of Cleveland, Drs. Matthew (Heather) Frey of Columbus; great grandchildren, Hailey and Taylor Barkley of Weirton, Summer Panek and Shawn Ronan of Michigan, Sophia and Zac Frey of Cleveland, and Genevieve Ginier of New Cumberland.
He will be sadly missed by his loving pets Missy and Snowflake.
Lawrence was a remarkable man. After losing both legs in a railroad accident at Weirton Steel in 1972 he was able to lead a wonderful life, taking care of his farm, run his tractor, climb on his barn roof to paint and repair, feed his animals and enjoy the rural life with is wife Jean and family.
Services were held Monday, May 2nd, 11 a.m. at Nixon Funeral Home, New Cumberland.
Burial followed at Millcreek Cemetery, Hookstown.
