ARDITO-TURLEY, VIRGINIA DAVIS, 92, formerly of Follansbee, WV, died August 8, 2001, in Redland’s CA. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Lily Crawford Davis. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Turley; her second husband, Frank Ardito; a brother, Earl S. Davis; and a nephew, Earl S. Davis. Mars Ardito was a primary teacher in Brooke County Schools for 30 years. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and Brooke County Retired Teachers Association, all of Follansbee. Surviving are several great-nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Presbyterian Church, Follansbee, WV.

KEMPER, JAMES HARVEY, 82, of Marianna St., Wellsburg, WV, died Monday, August 27, 2001, in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of the late Frank Joseph and Minnie Bilby Kemper. A member of the Wellsburg Presbyterian Church and an Army veteran of WWII, he belonged to the Disabled American Veterans, an Air Corp-airplane mechanic, a Brooke County Constable for many years and also the Brooke County AARP. IN addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Christin Kemper; a daughter Carolyn Jean Kemper, six brothers, William, Richard, Frank, Kenneth, Fred and Archie Kemper; two sisters, Gertrude Ellis and Louise Kerns. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Allen “Joyce” Woodstuff of Wellsbutrg; a brother, Paul Kemper of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; two grandsons, Michael Woodstuff and wife, Deborah ,of Wellsburg, and Scott Woodstuff and his wife, Suzanne, of DeFiance, Ohio; three great grandchildren, Michelle Woodstuff of Wellsburg, Andrew and Jonathan of DeFiance; two sister-in-laws, Freda Kemper and Macel Kemper, both of Wellsburg; several nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Reasner Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV. Interment was held in Brooke Cemetery, Wellsburg, with full military rights by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.

YATER, DAVID ‘CARL’, 75, of Beech Bottom, Wellsbrug, WV., died Monday August 27, 2001, in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of the late Alva “Barney” and Beatrice Kauffman Yater. He was a member of the Wellsburg Nazarene Church, and Brooke County Chapter AARP. Aside from his parents he is preceded in death by his wire, Katherine Williams Yater; two sisters, Faye Paugh, and Vera Yater. He is survived by a son, David C. Yater Jr and his wife Jan of Wellsburg; three daughters, Beverly Scott, Donna Green, both of Tiltonsville, Ohio, and Connie Miller and her husband Frank of Beech Bottom; two brothers, Louis “Butch” Yater and his wife Judy of York, PA, Gary “Buck” Green and his wife Ralphealia of Hagerstown, MD; three sisters, Mrs. Duane “Betty” Miller, Patricia Shepard, and Veloris “Ginger” Cook all of Wellsburg; nine grandchildren’; and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Reasner Funeral Home, Wellsburg. Interment in Kadesh Chapel Cemetery, Beech Bottom, WV.

MCCORD, OPAL FOSTER, 95, of Wellsburg, WV, died Friday, September 7, 2001, at Tanbark Health Care Center in Lexington, KY. She was born November 1, 1905 in Lookout, WV, a daughter of the late Norvel and Martha Brock Foster. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Carl McCord in 1980; a brother; Clyde Foster; and two sisters; Frankie Hall and Gertrude Light. Opal was a retired Brooke County School Teacher having taught from 1925 to 1970. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wellsburg; A membr of the WV retired school Employee Association, Wellsburg Civic League, Eastern Star No. 23 of Wellsburg, Ohio Valley Auxiliary, and the Delta Kappa Gamma So. Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Roger (Sandra Hall) Hartner of Lancaster, KY; a great-niece and nephew, Heather Corman and Reed Hartner both of Lexington, KY; several cousins, Mary Pulen of Charleston, WV George Pulen of Clemson, SC and Paul Pulen of Roanoke, VA. Dodd, Esther Carle Wells, 89, of Beech Bottom, WV, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Valley Haven Geriatric Center, Beech Bottom, WV. She was born February 17, 1912, in West Liberty, WV, a daughter of the late Carla Walker and Berlin Underwood Wells. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Edgar “Ed” Dodd on July 15, 1999; two brothers, Henry and Emerson Wells; two sisters, Virginia Wells and Elvina Bucey. She was a graduate of the 1930 Class of Wellsburg High School. She was also a graduate of the Riggts Memar System of Beauth Culture of Wheeling; class of 1931. Ester was a beautician for 54 years. She was a member of the Beech Bottom Community Christian Church and a Sunday School teacher for 50 years having taught the Beginner’s Class. She was also a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Surviving are two sons, E. Keith Dodd and his wife, Rose of Berwyn, PA and Lynn Wells Dodd and his wife, Sue of Wellsburg, WV; three grandchildren, Alan, Nathan and Carolyn Dodd. ECHOLS, MARION W. ‘BILL’, 87 OF Beech Bottom, WV, died Wednesday, August 29, 2001, in the Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, WV. He was born on February 26, 1914, in the Ohio County, WV, a son of the late Frank and Anna Jane Terrill Echols. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine E. Echols on February 7, 1998; a brother Morton Echols; and two sisters, Margaret Kirkman and Evelyn Fogle. Bill retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation, where he worked for 42 years as an Armature Winder. He was a member of the Beech Bottom Community Christian Church since 1924. Surviving are a son, Thomas D. Echols and his wife, Rebecca of Princeton, WV; several nieces and nephews, among them a special niece, Jane Mallory of Wellsburg; and a special nephew, Victor Echols of Belle Vernon, .Arrangements made by Chambers Funeral Home, Main Street, Wellsburg, WV. BUSATTI HIRAM, 75, of Follansbee, WV, died August 29, 2001, in the Wheeling Medical Park, Wheeling WV. He was born on October 8, 1923, in Virginville, WV a son of the late Andrew and Angelina Petrilean Busatti. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Busatti on December, 18, 1999; and two brothers, Rudolph and Alvin Zambarda. He was retired from Local 495 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Follansbee; the Knights of Columbus; and a veteran of the Marines during World War II. Surviving are three sons, Andrew Busatti and his wife, Jenny of Wintersville, OH, Robert Busatti of Divide, CO and David Busatti and his wife, Kristi of Jupiter, FL; a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Diehl and her husband, Bradford of Nashville, Tn; a brother, Earnest Zambarda of Asheboro, NC; three sisters, Edith Brandl of Pittsburgh, PA, Jean Miller of Bayonet Point, FL and Mary Volpe of Cokeburg, PA; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements made by James Funeral Home, Main Street, Follansbee, WV. Entombment will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Weirton, WV. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad.
