Calvin L. Welch, 80, of Whipple, Ohio, a former resident of Chester and Newell, died Saturday afternoon at home after a lingering illness.
A native of Ravenswoods, W. Va., Mr. Welch was born Sept. 23,1886, a son of Dennis Welch and Sara Jane Welch. He was a retired roller for the Weirton Steel Co. He belonged to the Methodist Church in Whipple, Modern Workmen’s Association and the Knights of Pythias. He was preceded in death by his widow, Mrs. Beatrice Starkey Welch, who died in 1936, two brothers and a sister.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Cecil (Alice) Statler of Whipple; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Clark of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Mrs. Elsie Barrett of East Liverpool, one grandchild and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Chester Arner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Locust Hill, Chester.
Friends may call at the chapel tonight and Tuesday up to the time of service.
