Robert Link Laughlin Taken By Death At 101
Robert Link Laughlin, 101, Georgetown’s oldest resident, died Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Beaver County Hospital in Brighton Township, where he had been a patient about a month.
A native of Georgetown, Mr. Laughlin was born Jan. 29, 1866. At one time he served as a cook for many riverboats on the Ohio river and also was a care taker for the Georgetown Cemetery. He made his home with his grand children in the Georgetown and Hookstown area.
He is survived by five grandchildren, Mrs. Elizabeth Moore of Hookstown, Mrs. Elsie Coggeshall of Carmel Valley, Calif., Mrs. Martha Lawton of King City, Calif., Mrs. Dorothy Hughes of Georgetown, R. D. 1 and Howard Campbell of Georgetown, 20 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Welch Funeral Home in Hookstown by Rev. Alexander Haines. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home this afternoon and tonight.
