A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Community Parish for Mrs. Rose Galeoti, 80, of 1817 Idaho Ave., who died Sunday.

A resident here for 56 years Mrs. Galeoti was born Oct. 19, 1897, in Camini, Italy.

Friends may call at the Dawson Funeral Home this afternoon and tonight.

J. Kenneth Barrett, 67, of Duke-Vodrey Rd., died Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Extended Care Center here following an illness of several years.

Mr. Barrett was born Oct. 2, 1910, in Pittsburgh, a son of John Barrett and Emma Elliott Barrett.

He was retired in 1969 as a warehouseman at the Homer Laughlin China Co. because of poor health. He was a former member of the IBPAW.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Esther Finney Barrett, whom he married Oct. 18, 1933, in Beaver, Pa., survivors include a son, Jerry Barrett of East Liverpool, a daughter, Mrs. James (Nancy) Nance of Lakewood, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Swift of New Manchester and Ellen Padgett of East Liverpool, and five grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. from the Martin Funeral Home by the Rev. Paul George of the Boyce United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday afternoon and night.

MARTINS FERRY – Services were held this morning at 10 a the Helsop Funeral Home here for Mrs. Zella Jackson, 68, of N. Fourth St., who died Wednesday at Martins Ferry Hospital.

She was the mother of Mrs. Majella Williams of Wellsville.

Mrs. Jackson was born in Washington, Pa., March 28, 1903. Her husband, Walter E. Jackson preceded her in death.

She also leaves another daughter, a son, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.

VIVIAN BAILEY - Obituary

Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the MacLean Funeral Home in Wellsville for Mrs. Vivian E. Bailey of rear 1010 Commerce St., Wellsville, who died Friday morning at City Hospital.

The Rev, Guy Butera of the First United Methodist Church of Wellsville will officiate. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery.

Survivors include a brother, Farrel Coleman of Chester.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. The Auxiliary of Wellsville Eagles Lodge 772 will conduct services Sunday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Columbiana – Ruth E. Cater, 88, formerly of Grant Street, died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at St. Mary's Alzheimer Center.

She was born Sept. 1, 1916, in East Liverpool, daughter of the late William and Mame Bucher Shepherd.

She was a retired teacher for Hancock County schools and a member of Newell First Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by two nephews, Lawrence Shepherd and wife Jo Ann and Timothy Dent; two great-nieces, Amy Lyn Oatman and Heidi Jo Pavone; one great-nephew, Andrew Dent; and two great-great nieces, Mia Jo and Nic Pavone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry B. Cater and sister, Mary L. Shepherd.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Arner Funeral Chapel.

Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel.

Arthur Wayne Stewart, 55, of Shippingport, Pa., passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, in The Medical Center, Beaver, after a two month battle with cancer. He is at home with his Lord, Jesus.

He was born Sept. 25, 1952, in Rochester, Pa., and was the son of Martha Stewart Stroud and the late Gene Stewart. Art was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran having served in Vietnam and Desert Storm, and was employed as a truck driver for 13 years after his military retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting John Deere memorabilia.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 31 years, Wanda Gail Ott Stewart; two brothers and their families, Leonard James Stewart and wife Lana, Huntsville, Ala., and Thomas Gene Stewart and wife Rona, Imperial, Pa.; five nephews, two nieces, one great-nephew, and his faithful companion, Petey Paws.

Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the TODD FUNERAL HOME, 340 Third St., Beaver, and from 1:30 until service time at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Beaver Assembly of God, 500 Dutch Ridge Road, Brighton Township. Rev. Timothy Michaux will officiate.

Private interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to the Beaver Assembly of God Building Fund.

HELEN L. SLACK - Obituary

CHESTER- Helen L. Slack died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at the East Liverpool City Hospital.

Born in Sutton, W. Va., she was the daughter of the later Lloyd and Dolly Snyder Jackson.

Following graduation from Sutton High School, Helen obtained her degree from Glenville State College and West Virginia University. She retired after 36 years with Hancock County Schools, having taught at both Chester High School and Chester Junior High School and was a member of various teachers' organizations.

Survivors include her husband, Russell Slack, at home; two brothers, Paul Jackson and his wife Velma of Chester and Harold Jackson and his wife Lucill, of Tennessee; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Harris and her husband Kermit of Charleston, W. Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at the Arner Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Trina Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Hill Cemetery.

Friends may visit on Monday when the family will be present from 2-4, 6-8 p.m.
