John Hoder, 53, of New Cumberland passed away Sunday March 16, 2008.
He was born March 17, 1954 in Weirton.
John was a loader for B.F.I. Waste Management.
He is survived by his wire, Kathryun (Jenkins) Hoder, at home; two sons, three stepsons, Kenny Baker of New Cumberland, Michael Baker of Beech Bottom and Richard mayhew of Parkersbvurg; a step daughter, April Mayhew of Ohio; a sister, Renee Crawford of New Cumberland; two brothers, Tony Hoder of New Cumberland and Pat Hoder of Newell; four grandchildren, Kenny Baker Jr., Evan Baker, Aaron Baker and Breanna Staley and his mother and father-in-law, Kathleen Leasure and David McAbee of New Cumberland.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Cumberland Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Thomas officiating . Interment followed at the New Cumberland Cemetery.
The family requests memorial contributions to be sent to the Nixon Funeral Home.

Mrs. Laurhetta Alexander, 813 St. John St., died Thursday at 11:30 p.m. at Massillon State Hospital after a long illness. She was 86.

She was born in South Beaver Township, Beaver County, daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Anderson. She resided here for 48 years and was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church.

Her only survivor is a son, Paul L. Alexander at home. Her husband, John S. Alexander, died May 10, 1957.

The Dawson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements which are incomplete.

County Bar To Honor Late Atty. Coleman

The Columbiana County Bar Association will hold a memorial for Atty. Andrew J. Coleman Saturday at 1 p.m. in Municipal Court and then proceed to the Dawson Funeral Home where services will be held for the veteran attorney at 2 p.m.

Dr. D. Finley Wood of the First Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Atty. Coleman was found dead in bed Thursday morning at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Glayde Coleman, of the Campground Rd., with whom he resided.

Friends may call at the funeral home tonight.

Mary Beth Walker, 72, of Newell passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008.

She was born June 16, 1935 in Beaver Falls, PA, the daughter of the late William and Helen (Myers) Hunter. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, James McFarland; a sister Jane Keller and two children, Mary and Louise.

Mary was an active member of the Glendale Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday School., She enjoyed helping with the church missionary program and the "Out Reach" program at the Netwick Nursing Home.

She is survived by her second husband, Bill Walker, at home; four daughters, Mary McFarland of California, Deborah Coil of Florida, Kathi Monroe and Bonnie Dray, both of Newell; a son, James McFarland of Wellsville; two stepsons, James Walker of Wellsville and Dennis Walker of Newell; a sister, Edna Davis of Florida; 8 grandchildren; 6great-grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren and 1step-great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 11:oo a.m. at the Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Hoe with Pastor Jim Davidson officiating. Interment followed a the Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell.

The family requests memorial contributions to be sent to Valley Hospice or the Glendale Church of the Nazarene.

Sherry Jackson Paris, 40, of New Cumberland passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008.

She was born January 7, 1968, a daughter of John and Wanda (Blankenship) Showalter of New Cumberland. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Jody Showalter and a brother-in-law, Kevin Powell.

Besides her parents, she is survived by three daughters, Courtney Paris, Kailene Glover and Khadynce, all of New Cumberland; 2 sisters, Barbara Settle and husband, Rob of Wheeling, Teresa Powell and fiancé Harold Theiss of New Cumberland; a brother, John "Jay" Showalter and wife Shannon of New Cumberland, 5 nieces Tierra (Potts) Rawson, Haley Powell, Tanya Showalter, Paige Settle and Halie Colson; 4 nephews, Scott Showalter, Tyler Settle, Dylan Powell and Canyon Colson; and a great niece, Serenity Rawson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home with Pastor Merkel Fernbaught Jr. officiating. Interment will be held privately at the New Cumberland cemetery.

Mildred Henrietta Cunningham, 91, Newell, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2008

She was born December 5, 1916, in Captina, WV, a daughter of the late Clarence and Gladys (Crow) Kelley. She was slso preceded in death by her husband, Harold Cunningham.

She was a member of the Newell Church of Christ. Mildred enjoyed sweing, quilt making and bird watching.

She is survived two daughters, Mrs. William (Susan) Walker of Newell and Mrs. William (Linda) Danley of Calcutta; a son, Richard "Rich" Cunningham of Newell; a sister, Georgia Cunningham of Glen Easton, WV; 2 grandchildren, Brian Cunningham and companion Becky Anderson and Kristy Krzys and husband, Jeremy; and a great-grandson, Jace Cunningham.

Private funeral services and interment were held at the convenience of the family. The Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Audubon Society.

Martha Jane Siudak, 90, of Madeline St. New Cumberland, passed away Monday, March 24, 2008 at Weirton Medical Center.

She was born April 9, 1917 in New Cumberland, a daughter of the late Alfred P. and Estella B. (Homan) Carey Godwin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph John Siudak, Sr., a brother, Thomas Godwin and six sisters, Pauline Brant, Blanche Swain, Lela VanDyke, Margaret Houser, Eunice Haislet and Vernice Ferguson.

Martha was Methodist by faith and a homemaker.

She is survived 3 sons, Joseph John Siudak, Jr. and Robert Paul Siudak, both of Follansbee and James Walter Siudak of New Cumberland; 3 daughters, Patricia Ann Medvitz and Thelma Jean Schneider, both of Cleveland and Beverly Sue Allison of New Cumberland; a sister, Roberta Skowronsky of Toronto,16 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received a the Turley Funeral Home on Thursday, march 27 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held there on Friday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Robert Staub officiating. Interment will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery.
