Harry O. Carson Obituary

NEW CUMBERLAND – Harry O. Carson, 54, farmer and retired oil and gas driller, died at his home in Carson Oil fields near here, Wednesday night following a heart attack. He had been ill for several months.
Mr. Carson was born in Hancock county and spent his life in this section. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Emma Wilson Carson, and five children, Ethelberta, Iris, James, Robert and John, all at home; also one brother Frank of the Carson Oil field and one sister, Mrs. Harland Ramsey of Hookstown.
Funeral services will be held in the home Saturday afternoon, in charge of Rev. Samuel Spencer, pastor of the Point Pleasant Methodist Protestant church. Burial will be made in Mill Creek Cemetery.

LISBON, April 30 (Special) – George R. Woods, 77, resident of the County Home for 15 years, died early Sunday at Salem Central Clinic. He had been ill four days.
Mr. Woods was born June 20, 1873
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Henry Funeral Home by Rev. C. F. Kennewig of the United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Lisbon Cemetery.

LISBON, Feb. 10 – Miss Ada Benner died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at her home on the Salineville Road about a mile south of here. She was 86, and had been in ill health for some time.
Born in Franklin township in January, 1861, she was the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Ewing Benner. She spent her entire life in this vicinity. She was a member of the New Lebanon United Presbyterian Church in Wayne township.
The only survivors are several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. form the Eells Funeral Home by Rev. T. R. Atkin, pastor of the New Lebanon Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Elizabeth Huston, formerly a resident of this city, died at the home of her daughter in Coalport, Pa., at 8 o’clock Thursday evening. Mrs. Huston was of advanced age and was the mother of Rev. J. M. Huston, formerly pastor of the First M. E. church in this city. The funeral services were held from the home of Dr. Huston in Wellsville, at 2 o’clock this afternoon. Interment was made in the Wellsville cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Ellen Kenney, wife of Joseph Kenney of Chester, died Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Shenefield of Chestnut st., New Cumberland, following a brief illness.
She also is survived by three sons, Robert Ferguson and Daniel Ferguson of Weirton and Donald Ferguson of New Cumberland; three other daughters, Mrs. Nellie Kuhn and Mrs. Clara Hill of Burgettstown and Mrs. Bertha Pierce of Wellsburg, and 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Arner funeral home in New Cumberland by Rev. A. S. Fields, pastor of the Christian church. Burial will be in Raccoon cemetery, near Burgettstown.
Friends may call tonight and Tuesday at the Shenefield home.

Wade white, 1845 Lisbon St., died Saturday at 2:45 p.m. in the Tuscarawas County Sanatorium at New Philadelphia, following a six-week illness.
Mr. White, a stationary engineer for the Woodbine Laundry & Dry Cleaning Co., was born in Wood County, W. Va. He came to East Liverpool in 1908. He was a member of the Baptist Church at Salem.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Nellie White, three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Walker of New Galilee, Miss Helen White and Miss Alice White at home; his mother, Mrs. Campy White of East Liverpool, and two grandchildren.
Rites will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Martin Funeral Home by Evangelist Donald Jarett of the Bradsaw Ave. Church of Christ. Burial will be in Spring Grove cemetery.

Adria C. Stevens, 63, of Washington School Rd., Newell, died today at 7:30 a.m. at home after taking ill suddenly.
Mr. Stevens was born Nov. 11, 1912, in Tyler County, W. Va., a son of Jacob Stevens and Edith Stevens. He was employed at the Crucible Steel Division of Colt Industries and the Grant District Water Co.
In addition to his widow, Mrs. Ruth Fletcher Stevens, at home, survivors include a son, Gary L. Stevens of Chester, a daughter, Mrs. Monty (Shirley) Grimes of New Cumberland RD 1; a brother, Fred Stevens of Middlebourne, W.Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Seckman of Tyler City and Mrs. Susie S. Fairbee of Middlebourne, and six grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester. Burial will be in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens, Newell.
Friends may call at the chapel Tuesday afternoon and evening.
