DIED OF DIPHTHERIA.

John, the 4-year old son of Mr. and Mrs . John Ward of Lisbon street, died at an early hour yesterday morning from diphtheria. The remains will be shipped on the early train this morning to New Matamoras, where the funeral services will be held and burial made.

W. d. Campbell, a son-in-law of Mrs. N. D. Jackman, of this city, died Friday at his home at New Cumberland. Deceases was about forty years old. His death was caused by heart disease.

Mrs. Harriet T. Kitchel, aged 85 years, died Sunday, at the home of her son, F. D. Kitchel, Fifth street. Mrs. Kitchel was the widow of the late Rev. Dr. Kitchel, whose death occurred at Clifton Springs, N. Y., about three years ago. She had been a resident of this city for seventeen years. Five sons survive her – F. D. Kitchel, of this city; Cornelius, a professor at Yale college; Stanley, an attorney-at-law of Minneappils; Shelly, a minister at Bethlehem, Pa., and Farran. Funeral services at the residence were held Friday, and he remains taken to Detroit for burial.

Samuel Moon, aged 21, died Sunday, at his home, 121 Greasley street. Typhoid fever was the cause of death. Deceased was a member of Co. E, 8th O. V. I. A wife and two children survive. The remains were taken to Akron for burial.

George W. Ernest, aged 35 years, died Tuesday after an illness of pneumonia lasting but ten days. Deceased was a carpenter by trade. He left a wife. Funeral services are being conducted this afternoon by Rev. Gladden.

Mrs. Katharine Austin, wife of Reuben Austin, of this city, died last Friday in the south, where she had gone to recuperate her failing health. The remains have been brought here and the funeral is to occur this afternoon.

Rev. J. S. Youmans, D. D., a former member of the East Ohio M. E. conference, and well known in East Liverpool, is dead. He died at the home of his son-in-law, Thomas Miller, of Avondale, near Cincinnati.

Ada E. Andrews, aged 35 years, died at 4 o’clock Sunday morning at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dr. R. Andrews, on Fourth street. Deceased has been an invalid for the greater part of her life and was unmarried. She is survived by her father and mother, one brother, Dr. O. P. Andrews, and one sister, Mary A., who is a teacher in the Central school. The funeral services were held at the Andrews home on Fourth street at 1 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, Rev. J. C. Taggart officiating. Interment was at Riverview cemetery.

George Maurice, son of George and Julia Smurthwaite, died Tuesday, of cerebro spinal meningitis, after an illness of nine days, aged 3 years, 7 months and 20 days. The remains were taken to Steubenville Thursday morning for interment.

James R. Louthan, aged 89 years, father of Brad. M. Louthan, of this city, died at Beaver Falls, Pa., Tuesday. Deceased was an affable gentleman, most highly esteemed by all who know him, and had been a life-long resident of Beaver County. Two sons survive. Interment at Darlington, Pa., Thursday.

The six-months-old child of Mrs. Samuel Moon died a the mother’s home on Greasley street Tuesday afternoon. The father of the child, Samuel Moon, died a month ago. He was a member of Co. E. Eighth Ohio. The funeral will take place Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock.

Funeral of Mrs. Joseph Smith
The remains of Mrs. Joseph Smith, late of Smiths Ferry, were interred in the Georgetown cemetery, Sunday afternoon. Owing to the ice the body could not be taken across the river from Smiths Ferry to Georgetown and it was brought to East Liverpool and taken over the bridge.

Paul, the six-year-old son of Daniel McKeever, of East Palestine, died of membraneous croup at 7:30 Wednesday evening. The body was brought here Thursday evening and taken to the home of Mr. and McKeever’s mother on Seventh street. The time has not been fixed for the funeral.
