TAMPA, Fla. – Rev. M. Rudolph Miller, former minister at Trinity Presbyterian Church in East Liverpool, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, at the medical center of John Knox Village in Tampa.
Born Jan. 31, 1904, in Lemoyne, Pa. To Jerome Rudolph Miller and Gertrude Fannie Moore, he died just 12 days short of his 102nd birthday.
A celebration of life will be held at the John Knox Village Chapel at a time to be announced.
Rev. Miller was paster of Trinity Presbyterian Church from April 1939 until January 1968 with a 46 month break for service as a Chaplain in the U. S. Army during World War II where he participated in the historic landing at the Normandy beaches. During his tenure as Trinity’s minister, the church built a new structure and moved from 4th Street downtown to its present Maine Blvd. Location. Rev. Miller was predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Miriam Miller and his oldest son, Michael Miller. His surviving son, Stephen and his wife, the former Ruth Ann Wellington, both of East Liverpool are living in Tampa. Rev. Miller is also survived by four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Rev. Miller graduated from Yale University in 1926 and Western Theological now the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He initially came to the East Liverpool area as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Newell, W.Va. in 1931. While living in East Liverpool he served as president of the Carnegie Public Library Board of Trustees, a member of the board of directors of the YMCA and Red Cross, as director ot the East Liverpool Child Counseling Center and the Retarded Children’s Group, as director of the Civic Music Association, a trustee of the Osteopathic Hospital and Kiwanis Club. He also served as Moderator of Wheeling, Kittanning and Steubenville Presbyteries. He served 28 years in the U. S. Army guard and reserves on both active and reserve duty retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. The family requests that memorials take the form of donations to the Trinity Presbyterian Church, East Liverpool, Ohio music Fund.

Sarah Lou Miller, 74

CHESTER -- Sarah Lou Miller, 74, of Florida Avenue died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept, 23, 1994, at the Roslyn Rehab Center of Glenside, Pa., following a brief illness.

She was born March 20, 1920, in Clinton, W. Va., a daughter of the lade D. C. And Anna DeVaughn Grewell.

She lived in Chester since 1937 and was a school teacher in Hancock County Schools before retiring in 1976. she graduated from Chester High School and West Liberty Teachers College. She did graduate work at University of Pittsburgh. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Chester Arts Club and West Virginia Retired Teachers Association.

Her husband, Standish L. “Red” Miller, whom she married Dec. 20, 1947, died March 22, 1992.

She is survived by two sons, Mark Miller of Glenside and Richard Miller of Columbus, Ga.; two brothers, Jack Grewell of Winder, Ga., and Charles Grewell of Amarillo, Texas; and four grandchildren.

The Rev. James Dumire will conduct services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Prall Cemetery at West Liberty.

Friends may call at the Arner Funeral Chapel Tuesday afternoon and evening and tat the church an hour before the services.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Lynn Murray Memorial Library or to the church.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—Services are being arranged at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, W. VA., for Mrs. Opal Belle Saddler, 76, of Van Ness Ave.
She died Saturday evening after becoming ill suddenly while visiting friends in Rilchfield, Ariz.
A retired restaurant worker, Mrs. Saddler was born Oct. 2, 1905 in Tyler County, W. Va., a daughter of James H. Simmons and Lillie E. Brewer Simmons.
She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and the waitress and Chef’s Union.
Mrs. Saddler moved here from Newell, W. Va., 42 years ago. She was the widow of Rade Saddler.
Survivors include two brothers and a sister, Ray Simmons and Hughie Simmons and Mrs. Garnet Dunn, all of Newell.
