EAST LIVERPOOL – Edith M. Cusick Jones, 65, of Old Lincoln Highway, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at Lanfair Center in Lancaster following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Madison Township Jan. 20, 1936, a daughter of Lloyd M. Cusick and Nancy C. Savage Cusick Nulf.
She worked as an assistant to Floyd Lower at the Columbiana County Agricultural Extension Office. She was a member of the Lisbon Church of the Nazarene.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel “Leslie” Jones.
She is survived by two sisters, Phyllis M. Tullis of Lisbon and Marlene K. Oliver of Lancaster.
The Rev. Dennis Fellenger will conduct services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Friends my call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Eells-Leggett Funeral Home in Lisbon and one hour prior to the services at the church Wednesday.

SALINEVILLE -Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Rhodes, 76, of Water Street, died at 9:48 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton following a brief illness.
She was born in Salineville Feb. 3, 1925, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Kathryn G. Sweeney Mundy.
She retired as a clerk in the office at the Salineville IGA and was a member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Cliffton C. Rhodes; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Regina ) Bridge of Salineville; two sons, C. David Rhodes of Toronto and Charles L. Rhodes of Fort Pierce, Fla.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Father John T. Tully will conduct services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Kerr-Pastore Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer vigil to be held at 2.

He was born in Steubenville Sept. 22, 1966, a son of the late Daniel Clifford and Arlene Jane Maple Sanders.
He worked as a baker at Sam’s Club in Robinson Township. Pa. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and was a Methodist.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Charlie (Lorain) Tarver of Kings Bay, Ga.
The Rev. Larry Hukill will conduct services at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Union Cemetery Chapel in Steubenville.

The Rev. Ronald Spore will conduct services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Glenview Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted th the combined units of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 44579 and American Legion Post 31.

COLUMBIANA – Floyd Cecil “Buss” Bowers, 85, formerly of East Liverpool, died at 1:445 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2001, at the Parkside Heath Care Center in Columbiana.
He was born in East Liverpool Nov. 6, 1915, the son of the late John “Jack” and Ruth Haudenscheldt Bowers.
He worked at the Hall China Company and the former Edwin M. Knowles Pottery. He was a Methodist.
He is survived by a daughter, Judith Ann Maloni of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; a son, John Michael Bowers of East Liverpool; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by grandparents who raised him, Mr. and Mrs. George (Clara) Haudensheldt.
The Rev. William Church of the Calvary United Methodist Church will conduct services at noon Tuesday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial park. Friends may call at the funeral home a half-hour prior to the service.

HUBBARD, Ohio – Dr. John D. O’Brien, PhD, 59, of Chestnut Ridge Road, died at 3;08 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2001, at Northside Hospital in Youngstown following a brief illness.
He was born in East Liverpool Aug. 2, 1941, a son of Jane Hodgson McHenry of Chester and the late John E. O’Brien.
He had been a professor of anthropology at several colleges.
Besides his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Kathleen A. O’Brien of Portland, Ore; and two half-brothers, Jeffrey O’Brien of Pannsylvania and Jay O’Brien of Kennebunk Maine.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
