Theodore Derosky
Died July 1,2003

Theodore “Ted” “Boots” Derosky, 83, of High Street, New Manchester passéd away Tuesday , July 1, 2003 at his residence.
He was born July 3, 1919 in Weirton, a son of the late John and Anna Ballas Derosky. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Zelma Derosky in 2003 and a sister, Madge Dersoky.
He is retired from Weirton Steel, where he worked in the refrigeration department. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a Catholic by faith.
He is survived by two sons, James Gary Derosky of Wellsville and Frank Derosky of Lehigh, FL; a stepdaughter, Carla Ball of New Cumberland; a step son, Eric Klaussner of New Cumberland; two sisters, Anna Coughlin of Phoneix, AZ and Norma Olgivie of Cleveland, OH and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 5, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Turley Funeral Home. Interment followed in the New Cumberland Cemetery.

Mitchell Brian Summers, 37, of Weirton passed away Saturday, May 31, 2003 in Weirton.
He was born August 5, 1965 in Weirton, a son of James and Yonley Summers of Weirton.
He was a truck driver, employed by Murray Trucking. He was a member of the teamsters Union and a past member of the Naples Volunteer Fire Department where he served as a lieutenant.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Christine Tice Summers, at home; a son, Shawn of Florida; two daughters, Nichole Lyn and Jessie Anne, both at home; a sister, Diane Morton of Charlottsville, VA; three brothers, Michael Summers and Randy Summers of Weirton and David Summers of Richmond, OH.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home.

Hattie W. Jones Obituary

Hattie W. Jones, 95, of RR #1 New Cumberland passed away Thursday, June 5, 2003 at the Weirton Medical Center.
She was born June 7, 1907 in Bens Run, WV, a daughter of the late John William and Mary Viola Miller Watson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Jones; a son, Frederick D. Jones, Sr.; four brothers, William, Earl, Bernard and Ira and a sister, Linnie Way.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Point Pleasant United Methodist Church and the Point Pleasant Ladies Aide.
She is survived by a daughter, Marian Caine of New Cumberland; a son, Gary Jones of New Cumberland; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 9, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Point Pleasant United Methodist Church wit the Rev. Billy Ray Carpenter and Rev. Charles E. Andrews officiating. Interment followed in the Union Cemetery in New Manchester. Turley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Sandra Zelma Derosky, 64, of High St., New Manchester, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at the Weirton Medical Center following a lingering illness.
She was born May 29, 1939 in Martins Ferry, OH, a daughter of the late Floyd D. and Pauline I. Godwin Brant, Sr. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Floyd D. Brant Jr.
She was retired from the TCI Cable Company where she worked as a secretary . She was Protestant by faith.
She is survived by her husband, Ted H. Derosky, at home; a daughter, Carla Ball of New Cumberland; a son, Eric Klaussner of New Cumberland; two stepsons, James Gary Derosky of Wellsville and Frank Anthony Derosky of Florida; a brother, Dale M. Brant of New Manchester; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 8, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at the Turley Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Lewis officiating. Interment followed in the New Cumberland Cemetery.

Leona Irene Cox, 72, of Orchard Street, Weirton passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at the Weirton Medical Center.
She was born September 28, 1930 in Weirton, a daughter of the late Lawrence B. and Goldie V. Rogers Dempster. She was also preceded in death by brother, Buddy Dempster and a sister, Goldie V. Ford.
She was retired from the Steel Works Credit Union in Weirton were she worked as a janitor. She attended the New Cumberland Christian Church.
She is survived by her companion of 32 years, Tom Anderson of Weirton, two daughters, Karen Kaczmarek of New Cumberland and Diane Provanich and husband, Bill of East Liverpool; four sons, Larry Cox and wife, Judy of Fairmont, Kent Cox and wife, Donna and Leonard Cox, all of Chester and Cary Cox and wife, Missy of Avella, PA; two sisters, Arlene Huddleston of Chesapeake, OH and Margie Stevic of Colliers; a brother, John Rogers of Tennessee; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 8, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Turley Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Romine officiating. Interment followed in the New Cumberland Cemetery.

James M. Handley Obituary

James M. Handley
Died Feb. 4, 2003

James M. Handley, 78, of Collins Memorial Dr., Chester passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at the Presbyterian University Hospital in Pittsburgh.
He was born September 21, 1924 in East Liverpool, a son of the late Guy M. and Helen Loretta Brophey Handley. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Handley and a sister, Susan Orr.
A lifetime area resident, he retired after 23 years of service at the former Crucible Steel in Midland. In his retirement he continued to work at the Flowerland Florist in Chester and most recently he worked as a guard at the Ergon Co. in Newell. A member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Chester, he was active in the choir and as a former parish council member. He had been an intricate part of the community of Chester where he served on the city council from 1988 to 2001. He was also a social member of the Chester American Legion Post 121 and VFW Post 6450.
Surviving are his wife, whom he married in 1944, Martha Lane Handley at home; a son, David M. Handley of Mesa, AZ; a daughter –in-law, Patti Handley Emmerling of Chester, six grandchildren, Brian Handley and his wife, Stephanie of Chester, Matthew Handley of East Liverpool, Desiree Handley, Damian Handley and his wife, Kari and Drew and Dallen Handley, all of Mesa; three great grandchildren, Garrett and Lee Handley of Chester and Gage Hancock of Mesa.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Father Rodger Hughes on Friday, February 7, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed at the St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Wellsville. Arner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Calvin A. Morgan

Calvin A. Morgan
Died February 9, 2003

Calvin A. Morgan 81, of East Liverpool, formerly of New Cumberland passed away Sunday, February 9, 2003.
He was born April 2, 1921 in West Liberty, a son of he late Albert and Effie V. Sloppy Morgan. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Freda Williams Morgan; four brothers, Edward Morgan Sr., John, Sidney and Wallie Morgan and a sister, Lorna M. Morgan.
Surviving are two step daughters, Judy Morgan of East Liverpool and Lois Jean Kidrick of Tuscarawas, OH and a stepson, Thomas N. Rexroad of Massillon, OH.
Services will be held today Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003 at 7 p.m. at the Newell Chapel of the Nixon Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
