Ruth E. Winland, 86
EAST LIVERPOOL -- Ruth E. Winland, 86, of Elysian Way died at 5:5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 1996, at the Rochester Manor in Rochester, Pa., following a brief illness.
She was born in East Liverpool Feb. 28, 1910, a daughter of the late Fred and Adda McFadden Winland.
A livelong resident of the area, she was employed as a home economics teacher 37 years with the East Liverpool School System, before retiring in 1970. She graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1927 and attended the Carnegie Mellon University for one year and later transferred to the Ohio State University where she earned her degree. She was member of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association, the Ohio State University Alumni Association, a charter member of the East Liverpool Woman’s Club, a past volunteer of the East Liverpool City Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen W. Winland, and two brothers, Fred Winland and Kenneth Winland.
She is survived by a niece, Jane Winland Foresta of New York, N. Y.
The Rev. Tanta Luckhardt-Hendricks will conduct services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery.
The Dawson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
